It was in 2004 that the critically acclaimed actress Mariska Hargitay established the Joyful Heart Foundation. This non-profit organization aims to help victims of the under-recognized issues such as domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse to heal from such traumatic events so they can live their lives to the fullest yet again. Hargitay was inspired to establish the Joyful Heart Foundation when she started playing the character of Detective Olivia Benson in the NBC TV show, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit over a decade ago.

On May 9th, 2013, the Joyful Heart Foundation held its annual gala at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City. The social affair was supported and sponsored by big corporations like Pepsi Cola, Verizon Communications, Michael Stars, The Art of Grace, and Wolf Films among many others. Aside from founder, Mariska Hargitay, the red carpet event was also attended by celebrity supporters which include names like Uma Thurman, Glenn Close, Mary J Blige, Danny Pino, Christopher Meloni, Will Chase, Mary Louise Parker, Julianne Hough, and Harry Connick Jr.

Julianne Hough was one of the many A-list celebrities who attended this year’s foundation gala. The 24-year old was spotted at the red carpet wearing an alluring white Calvin Klein mini dress. Julianne accessorized her stunning number with a pair of round brilliant cut diamond stud earrings with a micro-pave set diamond martini setting from the house of Jacob & Co. At the event, the actress shared her own struggle with abuse during her younger days when she was enrolled at the prestigious Italia Conti Academy of Arts in London. Her attendance at the event served as the symbol of strength as she encouraged victims not to be afraid, so they can lead better and happier lives in the future. Despite suffering abuse in the past, she motivated victims to stay positive and hopeful as support groups such as those provided by the Joyful Heart Foundation will always be there to assist them in speedy healing and recovery.

Julianne Hough was not the only celebrity at the gala event who sported a Jacob Arabov creation. Actress Debra Messing wore a luxurious piece designed by the talented head designer of Jacob & Co. The 44-year old actress was spotted at the event with co-star and boyfriend Will Chase wearing a captivating navy blue sleeveless jumpsuit which was then accessorized with a majestic palladium blue sapphire chandelier pendant necklace by Jacob & Co. The jeweled piece of art features a whopping 12 carats of sapphires and over 5 carats of exquisite diamonds.
